Formed in 1982 by a group of 11 houseboat owners from the lower Murray region, the Houseboat Hirers Association (HAA) has now grown to represent over 50 members, approximately 60 houseboats from Murray Bridge to Renmark/Paringa, and is the recognised houseboat industry body.
In November 2015, the HHA merged to become a division of the Boating Industry Association of Australia (BIA) and plans are advanced to form a national houseboat division.
The HHA is mindful of the environment issues facing the river and HHA members are committed to minimising the impact of visitors and insuring that the Murray River remains a favourite holiday destination for generations to come.
